Latifa Berrezouga

University Hospital Professor

Doctor in Dental Medicine and a Professor in Medical Microbiology and Immunology at the Dental Faculty, University of Monastir, Tunisia. Prof Berrezouga moved to Paris, France, and brilliantly, obtained a Master in Biological Sciences, and a Master in Medical Microbiology. She also attained a Diploma in Medical Immunology at the Pasteur Institute in Paris, France (1998). She joined the Endodontics’ Department at the Dental Faculty of Monastir in 2000.

Prof. Berrezouga supervised more than 35 high quality postgraduate and undergraduate thesis. She has the privilege to conduct cutting edge research with worldwide researchers. She succeeded to identfy a new gene involved in Lincosamides (Antibiotics) bacterial resistance. Her research findings were published in the prestigious Animicrobial Agents Chemotherapy Journal. Also, she has more than 40 IADR research abstracts publications in the last 6 years. Prof. Berrezouga is the founder and the Scientific Director of the Tunisian Section of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) and she introduced the IADR Prestigious Unilever Hatton Competition & Awards for young researchers.
The Tunisian Section was honored by the IADR Board of Director on many occasions. Recently, Prof. Berrezouga has been appointed as the IADR Secretary of Africa and Middle East Region. Prof. Berrezouga has been engaged in a PhD research regarding people living with HIV/AIDS to better understand oral diseases’ pathogenesis, hence to improve peoples’ quality of life. Although Prof. Berrezouga has been practicing high quality Endodontics and Oral Medicine for 20 years, her main concern has been helping and empowering young Tunisian people to develop their management skills. Prof. Berrezouga has several pencil drawings in the dentistry field and she reproduces painters’ works using simple methods. In addition, she is a National champion half-marathon runner in her category.
